Profitez de l’occasion pour amener vos collègues\, clients et amis et leur faire découvrir le chapitre de Montréal. \nCONFÉRENCE TECHNIQUE (17H45)\nSUJET : The Deep-Performance Dwelling \nCette conférence sera présentée en anglais seulement. \nThe Deep-Performance Dwelling is TeamMTL’s entry into the Solar Decathlon China competition. Originally launched by the US Department of Energy (DOE) in 2002\, the International Solar Decathlon is a green energy building competition involving participants from universities all over the world. The 2018 competition was held in Dezhou – the sun city of China. Each team was challenged to design and build a two-story\, Net Zero Energy capable\, solar-powered house with a floor area of 120-200 m2 (1290-2150 ft2). Juries of respected professionals evaluated the architectural design\, engineering design\, innovation\, communications\, and market feasibility of each home. \n  \n\n  \n\n\n \n\n\nBen wareing\nPh.D. Candidate at School of Architecture at McGill University \nArchitecture Lead\nSolar Decathlon Project – TeamMTL \nBen Wareing is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Architecture at McGill University\, under the supervision of Prof. Michael Jemtrud. He has worked for several years in architecture firms in New Zealand and Montreal and completed a post-professional Master of Architecture degree in Urban Design and Housing at McGill in 2014. Ben is Architecture Lead on TeamMTL – a student team that recently competed in the Solar Decathlon China competition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nRémi dumoulin\nStudent in Net Zero Energy Buildings at Condordia University \nEngineering Team\nSolar Decathlon Project – TeamMTL \nRémi Dumoulin is a Master’s student at the Center for Net Zero Energy Building Studies at Concordia University. \nRémi Dumoulin contributed in the development\, design and building of the novel Building Integrated PV Thermal system incorporated in the TeamMTL house\, that competed in the Solar Decathlon China competition. \n\n\n\n\n  \nCONFÉRENCE PRINCIPALE (19H00)\nCette présentation est commanditée par:   \nSUJET : Modelling and Design of Smart Net-Zero Energy Solar Buildings  \nCette conférence sera présentée en anglais seulement. \nNet-zero energy buildings (NZEBs) are usually described as those that produce from on-site renewable energy sources as much energy as they consume in an average year. This presentation will focus first on modeling and design of such advanced solar buildings to capture solar energy through building-integrated solar systems for simultaneous production of electricity and useful heat\, optimally designed windows for capturing passive solar heat gains and daylight and efficient techniques of building-integrated storage. Current work on development of building-integrated solar systems and predictive control strategies for NZEBs is overviewed with application to a net-zero energy institutional building – the Varennes Library. An approach for the early stage conception and design of such buildings is presented. \n\n  \n\n\n \n  \n\n\nAndreas athienitis\, Eng.\, Ph.D.\,FCAE\, FIBPSA\, FASHRAE \nProfessor of Building Engineering\nConcordia University \nDr. Andreas K. Athienitis is a Professor of Building Engineering at Concordia University.  He is the Scientific Director of the NSERC Smart Net-zero Energy Buildings Strategic Research Network (SNEBRN: 2011-2016) and the founding Director of the NSERC Solar Buildings Research Network (SBRN:2005-2010). He holds a Senior NSERC/Hydro Quebec Industrial Research Chair and a Concordia University Research Chair\, Tier I. He obtained a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (1981) from the University of New Brunswick and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo (1985). He was profiled as one of 25 top innovators in Quebec by Actualité Magazine (Sep. 15\, 2009). He is a Fellow is of the Canadian Academy of Engineering\, Fellow of IBPSA and Fellow of ASHRAE.
